I.Q. Gets Fit...& More

I.Q. Gets Fit I.Q. Gets Fit by Mary Ann Fraser

rating: 4 of 5 stars

A mouse named I.Q. and a fitness challenge makes for a great story and a good way to introduce healthy habits to younger children.

Sylvia Jean, Drama Queen Sylvia Jean, Drama Queen by Lisa Campbell Ernst

rating: 4 of 5 stars
I enjoyed reading this book to my girls, especially to my 4 year old who loves to constantly change her clothes and dress up. It's a short story of a little girl pig who like to dress up but realized in the end that being her wasn't so bad after all.

Hunter and Stripe and the Soccer Showdown Hunter and Stripe and the Soccer Showdown by Laura Malone Elliott

rating: 4 of 5 stars

A cute story of competition between friends. It was a good way to explain and then follow up with a conversation on how sports are for fun and exercise not for winning only.

Hunter's Best Friend at School Hunter's Best Friend at School by Laura Malone Elliott

rating: 4 of 5 stars

Two raccoons who are best friends. Stripe begins to be bad and hunter has to learn that rather than join his friend in being naughty he needs to do what is right.

Lyle and the Birthday Party (Lyle the Crocodile) Lyle and the Birthday Party by Bernard Waber

rating: 3 of 5 stars

I read this book when I was a kid! Lyle is a crocidile and in this book he becomes jealous which makes him physically ill until he learns that doing things for others is more fun than always having things be about you.

A Taste of Colored Water A Taste of Colored Water by Matt Faulkner

rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book is about the color of our skin. But it was not a very well rounded approach. It began to talk about it, but in a very odd way that didn't really conclude. Not a good book to read to young children at all.

The Mouse That Snored The Mouse That Snored by Bernard Waber

rating: 3 of 5 stars

A story about a very quiet couple who lived with their very quiet parrot and cat. Then one day noisy mouse moved in. A good book to use to talk about the times that it's good to be loud or quiet.

The Perfect Nest The Perfect Nest by Catherine Friend

rating: 3 of 5 stars

A funny story of a cat who wanted an omelet so bad that he built a nest in hopes that a bird would lay an egg for him. The story is funny, the pictures are great, and the characters are fun to read
