The Case For Christ Study Bible

The Case for Christ Study Bible: Investigating the Evidence for BeliefThe Case for Christ Study Bible: Investigating the Evidence for Belief by Lee Strobel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

MY REVIEW:

For a graduating senior from high school or college a wonderful gift is a Bible. This Bible - The Case For Christ Study Bible - is not only the treasured resource of God's Word, but also aids and helps to stand firm in our faith.

It is the Bible in the NIV version along with many notes about the case for Christ, the Bible, the case for faith, and for the Creator. This gives a young person - or any person! - easy access to articles and points that will help them flesh out their faith in God. I appreciate how you can be reading a passage and find a short article on the same page explaining that passage from a questioning perspective. It helps the Bible come alive and gives material to build a firm foundation for your faith in world that will do anything to shake it up.

This study Bible is a gift that will keep on giving long after the graduation day is a distant memory.

The NEW Moody Atlas of the Bible

Grad Series Button

The New Moody Atlas of the Bible image The New Moody Atlas of the Bible by Barry J. Beitzel

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

MY REVIEW:

One of the best gifts you can give a graduate is an investment into their future. What better way to invest in their future than through giving them a resource that will last them a lifetime?!

The NEW Moody Atlas of the Bible is that resource.

This book is more than just a glorified book of maps found in the back of your Bible, it's full of current, full-color photos of sites and ruins from the Bible times. It also contains written history and explanation of the maps, pictures, and charts shown.

Technically it has 2 chapters, but each of them are broken into short sections on a specific time, event, or place. The Scriptural Index as well as the General Index make it easy to use and a wonderful addition to any Bible study of any depth. This atlas is a colorful guide to understanding the Bible in ways you have not understood it before and will be a book you refer to over and over again.

Faith, Hope, & Luck by Andy Stanley

Grad Series Button

Faith Hope And Luck Dvd image Faith Hope And Luck Dvd by Andy Stanley

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

MY REVIEW:

It's that time of year again!

The time when we run around attending parties and stuffing ourselves with great food while giving away gifts to our graduates.

Today I am featuring another great gift idea for any high school or college graduate - Faith, Hope, & Luck by Andy Stanley. This 100 minute DVD is broken into 5 segments for study as an individual or as a group. It's accompanying participants' guide is also easy to use in either setting.

The message of this study series is about how often we base our faith on what God is or is not "doing" in our life and in the lives of those around us. Stanley opens the Word of God to explain that our faith does not have to sway with the day but can be steadfast.

Overall, this DVD and participants guide is well put together and of great quality. It's enjoyable to watch and Andy Stanley is easy to listen to and learn from. There are few things that Andy says that I do not completely agree with (hence the 3 star rating) but not to the point that I would say not to use this. This cutting edge and extremely relevant study and presentation is a great investment into the spiritual life of any graduate.

Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith {Giveaway!}

Grad Series Button

Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith Participant's Guide image Five Things God Uses to Grow Your Faith Participant's Guide by Andy Stanley

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

MY REVIEW:

While cash and gift cards are important to the Graduate gearing up for college, investing in their spiritual health is also an important gift and here is something that will do just that.

In Andy Stanley's clear and concise way he opens up the Bible to talk about five things God uses to grow your faith. This 6 session DVD includes these lessons:

  • Big Faith
  • Practical Teaching
  • Providential Relationships
  • Private Disciplines
  • Personal Ministry
  • Pivotal Circumstances

The DVD is high quality and enjoyable to watch along with being a spiritual challenge and encouragement. The participant's guide is also easy to use and fun for both groups or individuals. The flexibility of this set is part of what makes it so appealing along with it's great message.

I have rated this DVD & study guide with a 3 only because I am a Pastor's wife and due to some comments Stanley makes about denominations I would not be comfortable to show it in our church setting. However, on an individual basis I thought it was overall an encouraging study.

Great Graduate Gifts for 2010

Grad Series ButtonEvery Graduate looks forward to the cash and gift cards that will spill out of all the well-wishing cards he or she receives upon their completion of high school or college.  And all of us graduation-party-going-folks sometimes wonder what else we could possibly give that newly-tassel-turned-teen.  We want them to have something useful, but we also want them to have something to remember when looking back at this monumental day in their life.

I don’t want the Graduates I know to be lacking when it comes to what they need physically, but more than that I don’t want them to be lacking in their spiritual development either.  Sometimes the best gift you can give is not a card loaded with dough, but rather a package holding a Bible or biblical resource to encourage them in their walk with Christ.

Five Things God Uses Grw Dvd

Faith Hope And Luck Dvd

From June 7th through the 11th I am going to feature some great graduate gifts this year that will encourage that special young man or young woman in your life to deepen  their relationship with Christ.  I hope  you will join me for this post series and for a wonderful giveaway of these two DVDs by Andy Stanley and a companion study guide to go with each of them!
